WAC Tournament: Tulsa Overcomes Sluggish Start To Bury Boise State
Kevin Johnson had 16 points and nine rebounds as Tulsa
beat Boise State 72-53 Thursday night in the quarterfinals of the Western
Athletic Conference tournament. The Golden Hurricane (25-5) will play Fresno State in a semifinal game
Friday. Top-seeded Hawaii meets Nevada in the other semifinal. After a sluggish start, Tulsa closed the first half with a 23-6 run to take
a lead 36-19 at halftime. Tulsa built the lead to 52-31 early in the second half and never had any
trouble with the Broncos (13-17).
