WAC Tournament: Boise State Bounces UTEP on Buzzer-Beating Four-Point Play
Bryan Defares hit a free throw with no time left in overtime to lift Boise State over Texas-El Paso 73-72 in the Western Athletic Conference Tournament Wednesday night. Defares banked in a 25-foot, 3-pointer as time expired in the extra period, but was fouled by Chris Neal. UTEP (10-22) led 72-69 with 4.7 seconds remaining when Neal made one of two free throws. After missing the second, Defares dribbled upcourt, paused and then launched the awkward shot. UTEP led 62-56 with 4:30 remaining in regulation, but Boise State went on an 8-0 run to take a 64-62 lead with 1:53 left.
